Gin Fizz
Herbaceous Gin Fizz
Gin is one of those liquors that people either love or hate. I am one of those people that love it. It’s hands down one of the most versatile liquors and goes well in everything from a fancy mixed drink to simple G&T. Warming and refreshing at the same. Aside from that it can vary greatly in flavor profiles. The only requirement is that includes juniper berries.
For those trying to move to a more sober living there are also a couple of brands that make a great non alcoholic gin, such as Monday or Ritual. These provide you with the chance to be a part of the party without all the negatives that alcohol provides.
Ingredients:
2 oz. Gin
¾ oz. Lemon Juice
½ oz. Mint Simple Syrup
6 ea. Basil Leaves
Soda Water
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Shake vigorously until the mixture is chilled. Pour through a strainer over a lowball glass with ice. Top the remaining of the glass with the soda water.
Garnish with a couple pretty leaves of the basil and a lemon twist to look bougie. Drink up.
Tips:
Before juicing the lemon for this drink, you can peel it and add those to the base of your simple syrup and strain out when finished. Adds a bright flavor burst to an otherwise average mixer. Also helps you utilize the whole fruit.
Mint simple syrup can be substituted for regular simple syrup but it really adds another note of depth and complexity to it.
